Changing Songs on Sonos
Once you're playing music through your Sonos system, changing songs is straightforward:
Open the Sonos App: Launch the Sonos app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Access Now Playing: At the bottom of the screen, you'll see a "Now Playing" bar indicating the current song. Tap or click on this bar to expand the full Now Playing screen.
-
Control Playback: On the Now Playing screen, you'll find the following controls:
Play/Pause Button: Tap to pause or resume the current song.
Skip Forward Button: Tap to go to the next song in the queue or playlist.
Skip Back Button: Tap to go back to the beginning of the current song. Tap again quickly to go to the previous song.
Progress Bar: Drag the dot along the progress bar to scrub to a different part of the song.
Queue: Tap the "Queue" icon (usually three lines with a play arrow) to view, reorder, or add songs to your current playback queue.
Volume Slider: Adjust the volume for the selected room or group of rooms.
Thumbs Up/Down (for some services): Rate songs for some music services to influence future recommendations.
Linking Devices Together (Front & Rear Speaker)
Linking Sonos devices together is called grouping rooms, and it allows you to play the same audio across multiple speakers simultaneously.
Open the Sonos App: Launch the Sonos app.
Go to the Rooms Tab: At the bottom of the screen, tap the "Rooms" tab (often represented by a house icon or speaker icon). This shows all your Sonos rooms and what's currently playing in each.
Select a Room to Start From: Tap on the name of the room that is currently playing the music you want to share. This will expand its controls.
Tap the Group Icon: In the expanded room view, look for the group icon. This often looks like two overlapping rectangles or a circle with smaller circles around it. Tap this icon.
Select Rooms to Group: A list of all your available Sonos rooms will appear. Check the box next to each room you want to add to the group. The room you started from will already be checked.
Confirm Grouping: Once you've selected all the desired rooms, tap "Done" or "Group" (the exact wording may vary slightly).
Now, all the selected rooms will be linked and play the same audio in perfect synchronization. You can adjust the individual volume of each speaker within the group from the Rooms tab.
